How to get there
Transport: Located on the banks of Mekong River, about 240km North of Phnom Penh, and right in front of Kratie town, just across the river, Koh Trong island is easily accessible.
From Phnom Penh, shared taxis, minivans or big busses all ply the route (often on the way to Steung Treng or Ratanakiri further North). It takes about 5 hours to Kratie, and passes Cham villages, rubber plantations, and miles upon miles of rice fields.
If you are staying in Siem Reap, it will take between 6 – 7 hours.
One the most popular bus companies is Vireak Buntham : https://vireakbuntham.com.
From the Kratie boat dock, located to the North of the city, you can catch a five to ten minutes ferry to Koh Trong, depending on the season and water level.
There are boats coming and going every half an hour or so, with the ticket being 1000 riel, plus 500 riel if you bring a bicycle or 1000 riel if you bring a motorbike.
Visitors staying at Soriyabori can call ahead of their arrival and a Tuktuk will come to wait for them in front of the pagoda. In the dry season, with the beach in between, motorcycles will come to pick you up by the boat and take you to the Tuktuk.
The last ferry leaves at 6.30pm, after which, if required, the hotel can charter a boat for you.
